8:00 PM

Individually, Bela Fleck (on banjo), Zakir Hussain (on Indian tabla drums), and Edgar Meyer (on string bass) are virtuosos, each unmatched in his instrumental skill. Together, they form a powerhouse trio, blending classical, bluegrass, and world music in a captivating evening of genre bending and musical wizardry. The Los Angeles Times raves the Fleck, Hussain, and Meyer’s innovative combinations of American roots and Indian classical music “make alchemical gold.”

Richie Havens Sunday in Door County!

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Yes, that’s right folks the legendary Richie Havens of Woodstock fame opens the season of concerts at the Peg Egan Pavillion right here in little old Egg Harbor on Sunday night.   The concert is open air and free (yes, FREE)… bring a chair, food and drinks and enjoy the music,  friends and a sunset.  The concert begins at  7 pm with opening act Harry Manx.

And for some unknown reason you aren’t familiar with the folk/ soul music icon,  I have included a clip of Richie from his 1969 Woodstock performance…  And in all honesty, in 1969 I was only ten years old and living in Cary, Illinois so when everyone was talking about Woodstock,  I thought they were talking about a nearby town…crazy kid.

Should be a record crowd… see you there!

Door County This Weekend… BIG, BIG, BIG!!

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Talk about stuff to do this weekend… the Steel Bridge Songfest starts on Thursday and goes through Sunday, June 14.  It is held near the old steel bridge (hence the name) in downtown Sturgeon Bay and also 15 other indoor and outdoor venues nearby… there is a free rotating shuttle to all of the events.  Jackson Browne will headline the concert in the yacht harbor near the bridge as he has for the past four years.  Also coming again this year… Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Gos fame and local boy done good Pat mAcdonald The Future’s So Bright ( I gotta wear shades) whose family owns the Bayside Tavern in Fish Creek.

Music in Egg Harbor

Monday, August 18th, 2008

We went to see the Siegel Schwall Band at the Peg Egan Amphitheater last night… what a show that was.  Excellent Blues… perfect weather and a sunset to boot.  I bet there were over 600 people there.  I wish my parents were here to enjoy the new venue… they would have loved it.  The pavilion is just such a nice asset to our little village.  Next Sunday is the last scheduled concert of the season… summer is winding down.

Starting September 1, we have a new special at Egg Harbor Lodge.  For every night you stay, you get a $10 gas card…yes, we are going to help you navigate the county by helping to pay for your gasoline.  Make sure to mention the special when you book your reservation.  September is a perfect time for a trip to Door County… the kids are back in school and the weather is just beautiful.  Take a drive up for a visit and the gas is on us!  See you soon…
